Currently I'm an intermediate lifter (just) with about 3 constant years of lifting experience.
Now in my mid - forties and no longer training in karate at a competitive level, I took up weight training as something else to do. I stumbled across Stronglifts on the net and began following a simple 5 x 5 template. After 6 months doing this I jumped onto the hugely popular weight training program 5/3/1 by Jim Wendler. I've been following the basic 5/3/1 ever since.
Recently I have also been following Paul Carter's training philosophy of sub-maximal weights for maximal strength gain. You can find his blog here. In it you'll find a wealth of information and advice for raw lifters as well as some damn good articles.
Both Jim and Paul have a very abrasive writing style so don't be surprised by their sometimes very informal language. However some of their articles are very inspiring and as a red blooded male, if you don't come away from reading them with a massive hard on to get into the gym and do some heavy bloody lifting then your testosterone levels need to be checked...
And on that note welcome to my blog...
